How to add a new sub-user to your account

To add a new sub-user to your account, please select the User Management section which is located on the Settings page. Once in the user management section, please follow the following steps.

  1. Press the "ADD NEW USER" button.

    Please note:

    If 2FA is not enabled on your CEX.IO account, you will receive a “Two-Factor Authentication” pop-up after pressing ADD NEW USER. Then you will be given the option to go to your CEX.IO account and enable 2FA or cancel the addition of a sub-user.



  2. A pop-up window will appear and you need to set up the following:

    1. CEX.IO User ID;

    2. Email;




      Please note, that the CEX.IO User ID should be matched with the Email. If there is a mismatch, you will get a pop-up notifying you that the information was incorrect.



    3. Permission levels;

      1. Read (will be enabled and cannot be changed);

      2. Trade;

      3. Funds Internal;

      4. Funds Wallet;

      5. Funds External.

        Each API method stated in API documentation indicates the required API Key permission level for such action. Please, see the API documentation for details.

    4. Whitelist your IP addresses (optional)

      If you want to paste several IP addresses, they should be separated from each other by spaces, semicolons (;), or commas (,). The system will automatically identify them.



      If a new API Key should work from any IP address, the IP Whitelist field should be left empty.



      Once everything is set up, click "ADD USER". After the setup, please confirm the sub-user you are adding using the 2FA SMS\OTP code.

      Please note: in case the 2FA SMS confirmation method is chosen in your CEX.IO account, the verification code sent to your phone via SMS will expire in 5 minutes. If you are unable to input the code within 5 minutes, you will need to request a new verification code.




      If you don’t get the SMS code after 2 minutes, the Resend button will appear and you will be able to resend the code.


      Once the SMS/OTP security step is passed, you will need to confirm the permissions that you will give to this account.

      To proceed to the activation of the sub-user, please click on "ACTIVATE".



      If you decide to activate the sub-user account later, click on "ACTIVATE LATER". If you do this, the sub-user will be added but needs to be activated later on.
